Experience

Teacher Nov. 1988-May 2020

I taught regular art education at a public high school for most of my teaching career.  I taught just talented art education before I retired in May of 2020.

Continuing my teaching career, and as a member of the Artists Guild Unlimited I will be teaching private lessons and workshops at the Everett Street Gallery.

Freelance Artist

I have been doing freelance art work in our community since the mid-1970s. I have murals, in many places in our area including the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium and several public schools. In addition to painting I am a potter and a jewelry maker.

Awards and Publications

I have been awarded a variety of ribbons in various local and state art competitions in a variety of media.  My photography has been published in local newspapers as well as a statewide magazine.  I was asked to design the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival poster in 2006. Annually I am selected to participate in the NAEA Artisans gallery at the national convention. I have made local, state and national presentations about many aspects of art education. I am currently writing a book about an art education game that stimulates creativity and critical thinking.

I wrote for a local newspaper before engaging in my teaching career.

Education

I have earned degrees and certifications in teaching art from Nicholls State University.

I hold National Board Certification in teaching art.

I have enhanced my art education over the years with workshops in Texas, Louisiana, and NYU.
