Vera Judycki

Biography

Movement, color, and texture dominate the work of Louisiana artist Vera Deville Judycki.  Texture, in particular, appeals to her: manufactured substances and grounds including pumice and gesso and modeling paste and natural materials such as tree bark and dried flowers.  Her representational works depict Louisiana flowers, trees, swamps, and marshes.  Another body of work is abstract, derived from her fascination with form found I abstract expressionism.  She feels, “. . . most alive in her abstracts.”

Vera works predominately on paper but also on canvas. Although most of her paintings are watercolors and mixed media, she also paints in oil and acrylic.  Recently she has experimented with encaustics.

She is represented by the Elizabethan Gallery in Baton Rouge, The Frame Shop and Galley 912 in Lafayette, and the Everett Street Gallery in Morgan City, Louisiana.  She belongs to the Louisiana Watercolor Society, Art Guild of Louisiana, and the Artists Guild Unlimited.

Her works are included in numerous public, corporate, and private collections.  She has been the recipient of many ribbons and awards for her art work during her career as an artist.
